Christmas Concert

The Christmas Concert.

Concert 1 It's Alice in Wonderland!
Every Christmas the schools in the parish of Ballinakill put on a Christmas Concert. In late November the teacher told us that we were going to do the play ‘Alice in Wonderland’ for the Christmas Concert. We had auditions for the parts and I got the part of ‘big’ Alice and Alana got the part of ‘small’ Alice. The other children got parts like the queen, the king, the soldiers, the mock turtle, the dodo, the lory, the white rabbit, the Mad Hatter, the mice, the caterpillar and the cat.
I had to wear my Holy Communion dress with a red sash around the waist. Then we had to paint scenes for the backdrop. Paul and Shane drew pictures from “The Alice in Wonderland” book. We made a house for the White Rabbit, a big key and small doors for Alice to walk through. We practised every day in school. We went to the hall for rehearsals a few days before the concert. On the day of the concert we had our last rehearsal. That night we were very excited. Soon it was time for us to go on and we were nervous. But we all said our lines and sang our songs. At one part, Shane took off his bird headgear when he was backstage and forgot to put it back on again when he came out to say his lines. Everybody laughed! Soon it was over and we all had a great time. Our teachers and parents said that we were very good. School didn’t start until 11am next day because we were all tired after our concert!
Concert 2 This is the Court Scene.
